Clyfford Still Museum

Denver, CO

The Clyfford Still Museum (CSM) in Denver, Colorado, is among the most concentrated museum collections in the world, dedicated entirely to the work of abstract expressionist painter Clyfford Still (1904–1980). Still bequeathed more than 800 works to the public, and the museum—opened in 2011 and designed by Brad Cloepfil of Allied Works Architecture—was built specifically to honor and protect this singular legacy. The museum's mission is the care, preservation, and interpretation of the Clyfford Still Collection for the public.

A 2026 FCI Scoping Grant will support a comprehensive energy and systems audit at the museum, generating an action plan that meets or exceeds the City of Denver's energy efficiency requirements while honoring the conservation needs of the collection. The audit will establish a baseline for future capital improvements and guide the museum's pathway toward reduced fossil fuel dependency.
