Center for Maine Contemporary Art

Rockland, ME

The Center for Maine Contemporary Art (CMCA) is a nonprofit contemporary art museum in Rockland, Maine, dedicated to presenting, interpreting, and promoting the work of artists who live and work in Maine. Since its founding in 1952, CMCA has served as the state's leading platform for contemporary visual art, presenting exhibitions, programs, and events that connect Maine artists with regional, national, and international audiences. Its Rockland building, opened in 2016, offers a striking purpose-built space for contemporary art in the midcoast Maine arts community.

A 2026 FCI Scoping Grant will support a feasibility study to transition the museum's electrical and mechanical systems away from fossil fuels by 2030. The study will include an energy audit, carbon baseline, and a phased renovation roadmap covering lighting, HVAC, and water systems, providing CMCA with an implementation-ready plan for full electrification.
