The Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg (MFA) is the cultural heart of the Tampa Bay region, serving more than 100,000 visitors annually since its founding by art collector and philanthropist Margaret Acheson Stuart in 1965. The museum's campus comprises the original structure, a two-story glass conservatory, and the 39,000-square-foot Hazel Hough Wing. The collection spans thousands of years from ancient civilizations to modern masterpieces presented through a humanistic, accessible, and community-centric approach. The MFA activates its collection and special exhibitions with interdisciplinary programming designed to inspire belonging and foster connections between art, nature, and the environment.

An FCI Technical Assistance Grant will support a comprehensive building audit, MEP energy analysis, and identification of energy conservation measures at the MFA campus. Building on previous efficiency initiatives that achieved a 30 percent reduction in energy costs, the study will evaluate HVAC modernization including heat pump feasibility, water efficiency improvements, electrical load optimization, and rooftop solar potential—establishing a data-driven roadmap to inform future capital improvements and reduce the museum's annual utility expenditure.
