Barrioization

Manatí, PR

Barrioization is a Latinx-serving arts and cultural organization based in Manatí, Puerto Rico, dedicated to community-centered contemporary art, archiving, and cultural programming rooted in Puerto Rican history and identity. Operating out of Casa Archivo in Manatí's Historic Zone, Barrioization serves as a cultural anchor for the community and a platform for artists and cultural practitioners working in and around the island's northwest coast. The organization is committed to resilience, sustainability, and the long-term vitality of Puerto Rican cultural life.

A 2026 FCI Implementation Grant will support solar generation with battery storage at Casa Archivo, creating a local microgrid that links Barrioization's headquarters with a neighboring cultural center and an elementary school. The project provides resilient operations during grid outages, strengthens community emergency preparedness, and positions Barrioization as an anchor of sustainable community infrastructure in Manatí's Historic Zone.
