Art Omi Pavilions @ Chatham

Chatham, NY

Art Omi Pavilions @ Chatham will be a set of eighteen carbon-neutral pavilions across a 190-acre hilltop site in New York’s Hudson Valley. Individual pavilions will display legacy stand-alone exhibitions of highly distinguished artists and collectors who will showcase their work in a setting that they control and design. Set to open in 2026, these pavilions will be part of a larger art center, including a visitor center, and rotating exhibition pavilion, which will provide cultural context, museological standards, and visitor services.

The Torkwase Dyson Pavilion at Art Omi Pavilions is a visionary project that will showcase the work of renowned artist Torkwase Dyson, a leading Black contemporary artist known for her exploration of climate equity and environmental justice. Designed by Manhattan studio, Gluckman Tang in collaboration with Dyson and the Design Team at Art Omi Pavilions, Dyson’s Pavilion will  set a new standard for sustainable construction. Currently in pre-development, this innovative pavilion will feature a cutting-edge, zero-combustion HVAC system designed to dramatically reduce fossil fuel use and greenhouse gas emissions. By capturing and reusing waste heat and optimizing energy flow, the pavilion will operate with remarkable efficiency, demonstrating how art spaces can be both culturally vibrant and environmentally responsible.

Milestones

  • Reduce fossil fuel dependence and greenhouse gas emissions by integrating an advanced variable refrigerant flow (VFR) and energy recovery ventilator

  • Recover waste heat and optimize energy use

  • Serve as a net-zero model for sustainable operations going forward
