Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation
Scottsdale, AZ
The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation (FLWF) preserves and activates Taliesin West in Scottsdale, Arizona, Frank Lloyd Wright's winter home, architectural studio, and school, as a living embodiment of his design philosophy and legacy. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and designated a National Historic Landmark, Taliesin West attracts more than 100,000 art and architecture enthusiasts annually and showcases Wright's modernist design work from the final two decades of his life, including architecture, interior design, furniture, and fine art. The Foundation promotes Wright's belief that buildings are works of art through tours, education programs, exhibitions, and short-term college residencies.
A 2026 FCI Technical Assistance Grant will support work on one of the most technically complex historic preservation projects in the museum field: restoring Taliesin West's operable fabric roof system, designed by Wright himself. Building on completed 3D-printed prototypes, the project will refine prototype profiles, advance to final architectural drawings and fabrication-ready specifications, conduct a lifecycle analysis of original and proposed materials, and assess potential impacts on the collection.
