The Renaissance Society
Chicago, IL
The Renaissance Society is one of Chicago's most respected and internationally recognized kunsthalles, presenting experimental contemporary art at the University of Chicago since 1915. Operating in a 4,793-square-foot historic gallery within Cobb Hall on the university's main quad, the Renaissance Society is noncollecting and dedicated to the commissioning and presentation of new work by emerging and established artists from around the world. Its program has introduced Chicago audiences to significant figures including Yoko Ono, Gerhard Richter, and Harun Farocki.
An FCI Scoping Grant will support a diagnostic study of the gallery, examining HVAC performance, building envelope integrity, and humidity control. The study will identify targeted improvements to reduce energy consumption and create more stable environmental conditions for presenting contemporary art.
