The Potters’ Studio

Berkeley, CA

The Potters’ Studio (TPS) is a community-focused ceramics organization dedicated to fostering creativity, skill-building, and sustainable practices within the ceramics community. By providing accessible space, resources, and education for artists, TPS is committed to supporting artistic development while promoting environmental responsibility.

TPS acquired a former manufacturing warehouse, now under renovation, to become its permanent home. The new building enables TPS to welcome more students and create an artist residency. FCI funding will support an energy audit and solar feasibility study to assess current roof infrastructure and determine necessary upgrades for future solar panel installation. This project will provide a roadmap for reducing the studio’s energy use and dependence on fossil fuels, ensuring a more sustainable and resilient facility for their ceramics community.

Milestones

  • Conduct energy audit and assess current roof infrastructure and identifying necessary upgrades for future solar panel installation

  • Transform its space into an eco-friendly, self-sustaining environment

  • Develop a comprehensive plan for roof upgrades and solar panel installation
