Museo de los Santos y Arte Nacional

San Juan, PR

Museo de los Santos (MUSAN), is committed to preserving, presenting, and promoting Puerto Rico’s rich tradition of santos—hand-carved devotional figures—and the cultural heritage that surrounds them. Through exhibitions, educational programs, and community engagement, MUSAN serves as a vital resource for understanding and celebrating Puerto Rican identity and history.

To address increasing power grid instability in the region, FCI funding will support the installation of a sustainable solar energy system—comprising a battery, inverter, and eight solar panels—as an alternative to a previous fossil fuel-based solution. The solar upgrade will provide a cleaner, more reliable, and forward-looking solution, ensuring that MUSAN can remain open during blackouts, maintain its programming schedule, and offer consistent rental access to its facilities.

Milestones

  • Replace planned LPG generator with solar panels, inverter, and battery system

  • Address frequent power outages that force museum closures and event cancellations

  • Reduce dependency on fossil fuels and improve energy reliability

  • Enable consistent programming
